About JUPEB
JUPEB stands for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. It is a 9–10 month advanced level program that allows qualified students to gain Direct Entry admission into 200 Level in Nigerian universities and some universities outside the country.
The program was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2013 and is coordinated by the University of Lagos (UNILAG). It was created to give students another chance at university admission without the need for JAMB (UTME).
Why Was JUPEB Created?
Every year, thousands of students struggle to gain admission into universities through JAMB. Many fail to meet the required cutoff mark or face delays due to admission issues. JUPEB was introduced as a better and more reliable alternative.
Instead of waiting and repeating JAMB every year, JUPEB gives students the opportunity to:
Start their studies early
Gain direct admission into 200 Level
Save time and reduce the pressure that comes with JAMB and POST-UTME
How Does JUPEB Work?
The JUPEB program runs for about 9–10 months. During this time, students take intensive lectures in three subjects related to their intended university course. At the end of the program, they write a national exam organized by JUPEB.
If they pass, they are awarded a JUPEB result which can be used to apply for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level in any JUPEB-affiliated university.
Who Can Apply for JUPEB?
JUPEB is open to:
Students who have completed WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB with at least 5 credits (including English and Mathematics)
