1. About JUPEB

What is JUPEB?
JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board) is a 9–10 month Advanced Level programme that enables successful candidates to gain Direct Entry admission into 200 Level in Nigerian and some foreign universities without JAMB.

Who established JUPEB?
It was established in 2013 by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria, with the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the coordinating body.

Is JUPEB the same as IJMB?
No. Both are different Advanced Level programmes, but they serve the same purpose — Direct Entry admission into 200 Level. JUPEB is moderated by UNILAG while IJMB is moderated by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

How long does the JUPEB programme last?
The programme usually runs for 9 to 10 months, divided into two semesters, after which students take the final JUPEB examination.


2. Eligibility & Admission

Who can apply for JUPEB?
Anyone who has completed secondary school and obtained at least five (5) credit passes in O’Level (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent) in relevant subjects can apply.

Can I apply if I am still awaiting my O’Level result?
Yes. You can apply with an Awaiting Result, but you must present the result before university admission.

Do I need JAMB to apply for JUPEB?
No. JUPEB admission is independent of JAMB. However, you will use your JUPEB result to apply for Direct Entry into the university via JAMB’s Direct Entry form.

What universities accept JUPEB?
Over 80 universities in Nigeria accept JUPEB, including UNILAG, UNN, OAU, UNIBEN, UNILORIN, LASU, and many private universities. Some foreign universities also recognize JUPEB.

How do I register for JUPEB through JUPEB.ng?

When does JUPEB registration start and end?
Registration opens several months before the new session begins. Early registration is advised as spaces at preferred centres are limited.

4. Tuition & Fees

How much is JUPEB school fees?
Fees vary by study centre and location but generally range between ₦250,000 – ₦450,000 for the entire programme (including tuition, accommodation, and exam fees).

Is there an installment payment option?
Yes. Most study centres allow students to pay in installments to make it easier for parents/guardians.

Are there any extra costs apart from tuition?
Additional costs may include textbooks, practical fees (for science courses), and acceptance fees at your chosen study centre.


5. Programme Structure & Learning

What subjects are offered in JUPEB?
Subjects are grouped into Arts, Social Sciences, and Sciences. You will take three subjects relevant to your desired university course.

How are classes conducted?
Classes are held daily (Monday–Friday) at accredited study centres, with continuous assessment tests and mock exams before the final JUPEB exam.

Can I work while doing JUPEB?
It is possible, but not advisable. JUPEB is intensive, and regular attendance is required to achieve good grades.


6. Examination & Certification

How is JUPEB graded?
JUPEB uses a points grading system from A (5 points) to F (0 points). Your total points determine your chances of gaining admission into your preferred course.

How many points do I need for admission?
Most universities require at least 5–7 points for less competitive courses and 12+ points for highly competitive courses like Medicine or Law.

Is the JUPEB certificate valid for life?
Yes. Once issued, the JUPEB certificate does not expire, and you can use it to apply for admission anytime.


7. Admission into Universities

How do I use my JUPEB result for university admission?
You will obtain the JAMB Direct Entry form, fill in your JUPEB result, and select universities that accept JUPEB.

Can I get admission into 100 Level with JUPEB?
No. JUPEB is strictly for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level.

Can I change my course or university after completing JUPEB?
Yes. Your JUPEB result can be used to apply for any course or university, provided you meet the subject and point requirements.

Is accommodation provided?

Are students supervised in hostels?
